‘Orbium,’ derives from the word “orb,” the plural of Orbis and the Latin word for circle, is inspired by Master Distiller Lesley Gracie’s description of the liquid’s journey. It also represents the spherical round taste that Lesley refers to when describing the Hendrick’s house style.
“Orbium is a quininated gin that takes the complexity of Hendrick’s to previously unexplored depths,” comments Jessica Mieczkowska, Canadian Brand Manager, Hendrick’s Gin. “Our first release was so delightfully received in Canada and we are thrilled for its return.”
Containing the same distillates as Hendrick’s, Orbium features additional flavours inspired by classic gin libations. Quinine (found in tonic; used in G&Ts) is skillfully infused into Orbium, as is Wormwood, (found in Vermouth; used in Martini’s). The spirit is rounded off by the sweetness of the Blue Lotus Blossom. The result is a balanced yet complex gin, with a surprising brightness and a long finish, designed to open previously unexplored dimensions of gin as it spirals from floral into an altogether deeper and alluringly bitter place.
Orbium is presented in the same iconic apothecary bottle that is synonymous with Hendrick’s Gin, albeit in a sumptuous dark blue colour, inspired by the key essence of Blue Lotus Blossom. It also features an “all seeing eye” on the label, as a continuous circle and a reference back to the liquid’s rounded character.
